CINE MINHOCÃO
Cine Minhocão is an independent project I started in 2019, screening short films at Minhocão - an elevated highway, in São Paulo, Brazil - which opens to people like a park at night. The projector and sound support is a tricycle. It's an intervention to take cinema to an unexpected environment and occupy public space with art and culture.
It's been very rewarding to carry out this project working "on the other side", as a curator and organizer, activities which have always interested me, and that I feel fit perfectly with my work as a director and animator.
Screening programs included partnerships with Cine Janela (Salvador), MOSCA, Mostra de Cinemas Africanos and the Kinoforum Festival. Since 2024, Cine Minhocão has become a short film festival, with a selection of 38 Brazilian and international films from more than 3,400 entries, with a professional jury and public awards.
